James served in the US Army from August 1976 until March 2015 in the Field Artillery and the Infantry. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major, E-9. His last assignment was as a senior Operations Sergeant Major in the 1st Infantry Division. 

After retirement, Jim served as an Army Inspector General and as a Senior Operations Specialist in the 7^th Army Training Command. He retired from Civil service in August 2022. 

He has served in a myriad of leadership positions and units, with the most notable periods of service in the 11^th Armored Cavalry Regiment and the 7^th Army Reserve Command in Germany, and the 1^st Armored Division, the 1^st Infantry Division, and the 172^nd Separate Infantry Brigade to Croatia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. 

Jim is a previous All-American and All-State commander with the Department of Europe of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and has served in many staff and leadership positions within the VFW.

Jim is a Gold Legacy Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a Life member of the Association of the United States Army, and a member of the American Legion.  

Comrade Winslow has an MBA with a specialization in Homeland Security and a BS in Organizational Security and Management. He currently resides in Sherman with his wife Kristen. They have three adult children, Dalyce, Sebastian, and Daniel.
